Abstract submission

Each abstract is limited to 250 words. An abstract is indicative of the final paper quality. Therefore, authors are urged to prepare a well written, clear and informative abstract describing the work with emphasis on objectives and factual results. An abstract should include key words related to conference topics.

In the submission form, authors are asked to indicate their preference for an oral presentation (15 minutes) or a poster. The scientific committee will try to satisfy each author’s first choice. The Conference will include some free time periods to facilitate exchange and discussion. Authors are encouraged to comply with submission deadlines and to ensure that their paper proposal is relevant to conference topics. Authors will be notified automatically of their submission. A review and decision concerning acceptance should be received by submitters by March 31, 2016.

Once an abstract is accepted, the author is encouraged to prepare a full paper. A maximum of 10 pages is recommended for the paper on standard paper (Letter, 216 mm by 279 mm), including tables and figures.

Paper upload

The full paper template should be used to submit the final paper including an abstract of less than 250 words.  All full papers or abstracts will be archived on a web site for future reference.

Paper template: AGM2017-papertemplate.docx

Your full paper or final abstract should be uploaded by July 21, 2017 to be included on the website and accessible during the conference. Papers uploaded after this date may not be available at conference time but will be included on our website.

Accepted submission will be included in the preliminary program prepared in July 2017. See Program section to download the program when available.

Instructions for oral presentations

The oral presentations are scheduled on 7 to 9 August 2017.  The schedule for each technical session and your abstract are available on line: https://www.conftool.com/csbe-scgab2016/sessions.php.

Please bring a USB memory stick with your presentation to the session room at least 10 minutes before the start of your session (not your presentation). This will allow your moderator to meet you and load your presentation onto the computer set up in the presentation room. There are several concurrent presentation rooms, so confirm you are in the correct one.  Presentations should not exceed fifteen (15) minutes, to allow some time for questions. Your moderator will keep note of the time and ensure that that things keep on schedule, which may mean cutting short presentations that go over the allocated time.

Thanks for all your hard work to date and support of the CSBE. We look forward to meeting you at the conference!

Instructions for poster presentations

Posters are to be available to viewing throughout the conference. Please arrive to put up your poster on Sunday afternoon (1-5pm) or Monday morning (before 12:30 pm) in the Room (TBD).

Do ensure that your poster is in portrait orientation and does not exceed 36 inches (width) x 48 inches (height).  The Registration desk will provide push pins for you to attach your poster to the posterboards.  There will be 2 posters on each side of the board = 4 posters displayed per board.

Poster in My Pocket Service (app)

posterinmypocketWe are delighted to announce that the Canadian Society for Bioengineering CSBE/SCGAB 2016 Conference offers poster presenters the option of extra exposure of their posters via the new Poster in my Pocket App! This App is available FREE from the iTunes App store and Google Play Android store. As a poster presenter you can share your research with conference attendees and the rest of the world.

As a registered delegate and confirmed poster presenter, you are welcome to upload the PDF of your poster prior to the conference to the new Poster in my Pocket app. This is an extra free service to help increase the exposure of your poster to conference attendees and more.

Note: You do not need a smart phone to take part in this initiative!

What you do need:

  • 5-10 mins of your time
  • Access to email & internet
  • PDF copy of your poster

Visit here: www.posterinmypocket.com

Create an account via the Register/Login tab. Upload the PDF of your poster. You can then download the QR code and Poster in my Pocket logo and add to your poster before printing. This allows attendees to recognize your poster as a “Poster in my Pocket” poster, and download your poster to read on their smart phone. You will also have the option of whether you wish people to contact you via the app. This could lead to new collaborations and future discoveries.
