Improving your technical society

I am pleased to report that Council has dedicated some of its meeting time to discuss new initiatives that are intended to improve the value of this technical society. Some of these initiatives are relatively straight-forward, and therefore, easy to implement. For example, Council approved a renewal of the CSBE/SCGAB website at our December meeting and the target for unveiling the new website is the end of March.

The REGAAUL (Student Association in Agri-food Engineering of Université Laval) organized last Friday March 16th, the second edition of a professional gathering where graduated fellows from food engineering and agri-environmental engineering programs came to present to the students about their professional careers. Sponsored by CSBE among other organizations, this gathering was very successful and allowed students from the first year to interact with graduates in the area to seek for possible opportunities and to know more about the CSBE association. Student not only had the chance to network with graduates but also with students from different class years. Thus, discussion about possible internships, or summer jobs, career experiences or curricula questions. Knowing that networking is important in preparing a successful future career, this event was a golden occasion for future agri-food engineers of Université Laval. Thanks CSBE for the sponsorship!
