Chères et chers membres,
Déjà à la mi-mandat et plusieurs choses encore à accomplir. Je m’étais donné entre autres comme mandat d’augmenter la visibilité de la société pour consolider et augmenter le membership. Dans cette foulée, en août dernier à titre de président, j’ai présenté à NABEC sur l’impact de l’ingénieur en agriculture depuis les années 20. Puis dernièrement, au congrès annuel du CDDI (voir texte) où je présentais l’importance du génie agricole et des biosystèmes pour un système agricole et alimentaire durable. Dans les prochaines semaines je serai présent à la rencontre du conseil de l’ASABE. Cette dernière a démarré un large chantier sur le membership. Nous avons déjà tenu des rencontres thématiques pour discuter de la durabilité du membership pour les deux sociétés. Puis, je serai présent au Canadian Food Engineering Conference qui se tient à Guelph, Ontario. Dans un horizon plus large, je représente notre société sur le conseil exécutif du CIGR et en janvier 2027 je vais débuter un mandat de deux ans à titre de président. Finalement je vous invite chaudement à participer en grand nombre à notre AGM qui se tiendra à Saskatoon cet été. Pour ceux qui veulent vivre une expérience européenne, vous êtes bienvenues au congrès conjoint EurAgEng/CIGR qui se tient à Turin en Italie du 24 au 26 juin (CIGR 2026 | Join the Global Biosystems Engineering Congress!).
Dear members,
Already halfway through my term, and there's still much to accomplish. One of my mandates was to increase the society's visibility to consolidate and grow membership. In line with this, last August, as president, I presented at NABEC on the impact of agricultural engineers since the 1920s. Then, more recently, at the CSE annual conference (see article), I presented the importance of agricultural engineering and biosystems for a more sustainable agricultural and agrifood system. In the coming weeks, I will be attending the ASABE board meeting. They have launched a major initiative focused on membership. We have already held thematic meetings to discuss the sustainability of membership for both societies. I will also be attending the Canadian Food Engineering Conference in Guelph, Ontario. In a broader perspective, I represent our society on the CIGR executive council and in January 2027, I will begin a two-year term as president. Finally, I warmly invite you to participate in large numbers in our Annual General Meeting, which will be held in Saskatoon this summer. For those who want a European experience, you are welcome to the joint EurAgEng/CIGR congress which will be held in Turin, Italy from June 24 to 26 (CIGR 2026 | Join the Global Biosystems Engineering Congress!).
