Dear Colleagues and Guests,
On behalf of the local organizing committee, I am delighted to invite you to the 2026 Annual General Meeting and Technical Conference of the Canadian Society for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering / Société Canadienne de Génie Agroalimentaire et des Biosystèmes (CSABE/SCGAB), taking place from July 19 to 22, 2026, at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada.
The University of Saskatchewan (USask) is one of Canada’s leading research-intensive institutions, home to a medical school and globally recognized for its contributions to water and food security, sustainable agriculture, synchrotron science, and infectious disease research. USask’s agri-food innovation ecosystem is supported by world-class facilities such as the Saskatchewan Structural Sciences Centre and the Canadian Light Source synchrotron, enabling advanced molecular and structural analysis of agricultural products, soil health, food, and biological systems.
USask is also home to the Global Institute for Water Security and the Global Institute for Food Security, which collaborate to address some of society’s most pressing challenges. These efforts are complemented by USask’s partnership in the Global Institute for Energy, Minerals and Society, forming a comprehensive nexus of food, feed, fiber, water, and energy research.
Located in the heart of the Canadian Prairies on Treaty 6 Territory and the traditional homeland of the Métis, Saskatoon is a vibrant city known as “The City of Bridges,” with ten bridges spanning the South Saskatchewan River. The city’s rich cultural diversity is celebrated through numerous annual festivals and events. Surrounded by over 82% of Canada’s arable land—43% of which lies within Saskatchewan—Saskatoon offers easy access to lakes, trails, beaches, and wilderness areas, making it a perfect destination for both professional engagement and leisure.
We invite you to mark your calendars and join us for an exciting, forward-looking conference themed:
“Bioresource to Wealth – A Circular Bioeconomy for Canada: Harnessing Agri-Food Innovation to Drive Sustainable Growth, Resilience, and Prosperity.”
This year’s theme centers on the Food-Feed-Fiber-Water-Energy nexus, exploring opportunities and challenges in the bio-circular economy. The conference will provide excellent networking opportunities and foster meaningful discussions on the techno-economic challenges facing agri-food and biological systems. We will welcome eminent speakers who will share visionary insights to help shape a resilient and prosperous bioeconomy for Canada.
Your participation will be key to the success of this conference, and we look forward to welcoming you to Saskatoon in July 2026.
Sincerely,
Venkatesh Meda
