Welcome to CSBE/SCGAB Vancouver 2019

Dear colleagues and guests,

On behalf of the Canadian Society for Bioengineering and the local organizing committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Vancouver for the CSBE 2019 AGM. The theme for this year is “biosystems for clean technology and low carbon economy”. The global economy is moving toward a greener future and Canada is working to keep pace. The commercialization of low-carbon solutions, including clean energy technologies, can catalyze an important emerging market and support the transformation of the global energy sector.

The members of the local organizing committee are very proud to be hosting the next the CSBE AGM and look forward to welcoming you to our city. Vancouver is an amazing place to visit. Our multicultural city has many diverse neighborhoods of interest to visitors. Easy access, first-class hotels, and exceptional cuisine are just a few of many attributes that will make the Vancouver experience unforgettable for you.

Please mark in your calendars the dates of the CSBE Conference 2019, July 14 – 17, so that you may join your colleagues in what we hope will be a fantastic meeting.

Announcements

The CSBE/SCGAB Local Organizing Committee will arrange for two student competitions: “Oral Presentation” and “Poster Presentation”.

Students attending conference should declare their intent to enter with the Society Manager (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) by July 11. Please indicate your paper ID# and whether you wish to compete in the oral or poster competition.

Cash awards ($200, $150, $100) and certificates will be presented.

The areas used to evaluate presentations will be as follows:

Oral presentation

  • Organization
  • Delivery
  • Use of visual aids
  • Content and responsiveness to audience

 Poster presentation

  • Organization of material
  • Image content and quality
  • Written word
  • Presentation/overall content
  • Question and answer effectiveness

The LAC thanks the authors who submitted a contribution for the Vancouver 2019 conference. The abstracts received cover a wide range of topics related to bioengineering. Acceptance confirmations will be sent by April 15th.

MESSAGE TO AUTHORS:  We will assign ORAL presentations to those authors who complete their registration by May 15.

Please make your registration before the early bird deadline of June 25.

Our FULL registration includes access to all technical sessions, Sunday Welcome Reception, Monday BBQ, AGM and Award Banquet, breakfasts, lunches and coffee breaks all days.

One day registration is also available.
