Tourist Information

  1. The Conference registration fee will include a social event at the award-winning Journey to Churchill exhibit at the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Learn more about this exhibit at www.assiniboineparkzoo.ca. You will have opportunity to purchase additional tickets for those who may be accompanying you to the conference.
  2. The date of the conference has been selected to take advantage of Winnipeg’s famous Folklorama festival (August 6-19, 2017). VIP Tours will be planned for the Monday evening of the conference if you are interested (this cost is not included in the conference registration fee). Contact www.folklorama.ca for more information about the world’s largest and longest
    running multicultural festival.
  3. Winnipeg will be hosting the Canada Summer Games from July 28 - August 13, 2017. Visit www.2017canadagames.ca to learn more about the sports included in these Games.
  4. Winnipeg is home to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights that opened in 2014. The purpose of the museum is to "explore the subject of human rights with a special but not exclusive reference to Canada, in order to enhance the public's understanding of human rights, to promote respect for others and to encourage reflection and dialogue." Visit www.humanrights.ca to learn more about this new addition to our city.

We invite you to consider spending an extra day or two in Winnipeg to take advantage of these events that coincide with the conference. Remember to book your hotel by July 1st because the block of rooms being held for the conference will disappear quickly with all of the other activities happening in Winnipeg concurrently!
